PIN codes are generated on the user end by the authenticator application installed and tuned properly. This security measure has become widespread over the internet ensuring same protection level as the PIN codes delivered via SMS as well as some major improvements.
The authentication option works the following way. Special application is installed on your smartphone and generates variable PIN codes required for second factor authentication. Authenticator software is available virtually on all platforms including iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows.
Particularly important role in the proper functioning of this method depends on the accuracy of time on the device. Application generates new codes every 15 seconds, thereby make sure to enable internet time synchronization in your device settings or request automatic time sync with the mobile carrier.
The device can be setup in the OKPAY Security Center. A distinctive feature of using authentication device against variable PIN codes sent via SMS is that the application's functionality is guaranteed at all times and does not depend on the mobile network coverage or internet connection availability. The risks associated with undelivered or delayed SMS messages are completely eliminated.
It is also possible to enable PIN codes generation on multiple devices for the same account which can be used to create a backup access or to provide access to multiple employees, etc.
