The leading provider of online payments, PayPal, partially stops its activity in Thailand and Puerto Rico. Since September 21, in Thailand users won't be able to use their accounts for receiving and sending funds to other accounts registered within this country. At the same time it will still be allowed to pay for the goods with the help of e-wallets, if the money recipient is registered in another country. Besides it is is also possible to receive funds from abroad.
The Puerto Rico authorities have taken extras measures to control the money turnover and included the 2% fee on all transactions in P2P format. These changes have become the reason for limiting PayPal services on local market. Sicne November 1 the company sets restrictions on private transactions within the country.
The clients of the service will still be eligible to receive payments for goods and services as well as to make payments from PayPal e-wallets. Experts consider the limited access to PayPal services is a great perspective for o ther alternative solutions, such as Bitcoin, for instance.
