Experts drew attention to such aspects of stock exchanges as the protection of credentials, protection against unauthorized changes to domain registration data (DNSSEC) and the availability of security modules for domain name service, since these parts of the system are most often attacked. It turned out that only 2% of cryptocurrency exchanges use credential protection and only 10% use DNSSEC. Overall, only 4% of all exchanges effectively provide protection in four out of five aspects.
It also turned out that 41% of exchanges allow passwords consisting of less than eight characters, and 37% allow alphanumeric passwords. Some sites even register accounts without verification via email. Only 46% answer all four parameters, and the insignificant part of the exchanges (4%) has really reliable security systems.
Most depressing is that none of the hundreds of more or less large exchanges does not meet the 100% criteria set by ICOrating.com. Nevertheless, Coinbase is the closest to perfection: it scored 89 points out of 100 possible. The second place is taken by Kraken - 80 points. Third place is shared by BitMEX and Gopax. Ethfinex, Bittrex and Binance are also among the safest exchanges. The worst performance is demonstrated by Okcoin.cn and Mercatox (15 points out of 100). The infamous Zaif, however, scored 29 points.
