Using keywords in your domain name will improve your rankings. Not so. Instead, choose a short, easy to remember domain name. And if it is at all possible, include your company name in your domain name.

Pay close attention to the Meta Keyword tags because they are very important. Nope. This was a technique that was abused and is now used very little. In fact, most search engines don't even check it. Using bold or italicized text helps your ranking. While using bold and italicized text can make your site easier to read, they have absolutely no affect on search engine ranking.

Your site will be penalized if you use duplicate content.
Only one site will be displayed if there is duplicate content. There is no actual penalization by Google unless you consider one site not being displayed as a penalty.

Updating your site frequently will help your seach engine rank.
Actually, this one is true ONLY if your truly update your site with new content. Just rearranging a few words won't do a thing.
