Today the USA and other countries celebrate Columbus Day and therefore many programs have informed that interest will not be accrued but they will keep working as usual. Well, we congratulate everyone with this holiday and we also want to tell a little story about Columbus Day. This day is celebrated in the USA and other countries to show proper respect to the first journey to America which was done by Christopher Columbus on October 12, 1492.

While most other countries of the Americas celebrate Columbus Day on 12 October (which is logical and justified) in the United States it is celebrated on the second Monday of October. In 1937 President Franklin Roosevelt declared October 12-th as 'Columbus Day' but in 1971 it was proclaimed by Congress as a national holiday on each second Monday.

On this day, Americans celebrate the anniversary of the discovery of their country by going to church services and doing other activities. There are even parades and large ceremonies in some cities (the big ones are in New York and San Francisco). Columbus Day is an official day-off in many parts of the USA and the national flag of the United States is showed over government buildings.

This was a short story for those online investors who don't live in the USA and therefore might not know about this holiday and might start wondering why the interest is not accrued. Happy Columbus Day!
