Read the story of scamming a single mom before Christmas. She lost $1000 instead of renting a good apartment.

Instead, Sherry Lynn Rogers, 35, was not only scammed out of $1,000 days before Christmas, but robbed of her faith in the goodness humanity has to offer. “I hate to say it, but before this happened, I believed there were good people out there — now I know there are fewer of them than ever.”

Rogers' ordeal began early last December when she came across an advertisement for a fully-furnished apartment for rent on a popular classified website that has home pages for cities across Canada, including Belleville.

The pictures showed a simple, clean two-bedroom apartment which came “fully furnished for $800 per month which included heat, hydro, cable and all the appliances,” Rogers said, adding the address was on Bridge Street West.
