Earlier it became known that the largest Brazilian currency exchange Foxbit suspended its activities for 72 hours, losing $ 270,000 due to a system error that allowed users to duplicate the withdrawal of their funds. In total, the clients made 130 repeated conclusions, depriving the exchanger of 30 bitcoins, which at the time of the incident amounted to $270,000.
When the error became known, Foxbit immediately launched an emergency service mode to stop the withdrawal of funds.
Foxbit immediately announced that it will not work within 72 hours and will again begin servicing customers on March 14. However, recently the information was changed, and now the approximate date for the resumption of work was postponed to March 26, 2018.
The management of the crypto exchange stated that users of the exchange will be able to withdraw their funds from accounts during technical work, but this can only be done manually using the support team.
To guarantee full and timely service, 40 operators of support will work for the time of unavailability of the exchange. With their help, Foxbit customers can only withdraw their funds from the stock exchange accounts, but do not trade or exchange them.
It is also worth noting that since the incident, the trade turnover of bitcoin in Brazil has decreased by approximately 50%. This means that holders of crypto currency prefer to wait for the restoration of the work of Foxbit, rather than move to their competitors.
